Rougher Jameson Cell Project

  • Client: BHP / OZ Minerals
  • Location: Glendambo, South Australia
  • Date: 2023

Project Overview and Scope

The Rougher Jameson Cell Project at OZ Minerals’ Prominent Hill Mine was developed to improve copper control and recovery ahead of the rougher flotation circuit in preparation for upcoming ore deposits. Following EMtek’s earlier capital cost estimate and concept layout work, EMtek was engaged to deliver the detailed engineering and design for installation of the new Jameson Cell facility and its supporting infrastructure. The scope included integration of the new cell into the existing process plant, together with the piping, structural, mechanical and electrical works required to support procurement, construction planning and installation.

Services and Outcome

EMtek provided detailed multidisciplinary engineering and design for the Rougher Jameson Cell balance of plant, progressing the project from concept into a construction-ready design package.

Key areas of delivery included:

  • Mechanical, piping, structural and electrical design for the new Jameson Cell facility
  • Integration works including tie-ins to the existing flotation circuit, sampler modifications, new launders and associated pipework
  • Design of support structures, stair towers, access platforms, hoppers, pump systems, foundations and bunded areas
  • Electrical and instrumentation design for new pump VSDs, instrumentation and switchroom integration
  • Development of procurement data, construction scope documentation and detailed design deliverables
  • Technical support for construction and commissioning

Deliverables included process drawings, 3D model outputs, general arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, structural and concrete drawings, shop detail drawings, equipment data, schedules, material take-offs, engineering calculations and electrical and instrumentation drawings.
