Carrapetina Underground Conveyors Pre feasibility Study Main 1 1

Underground Conveyors Pre-feasibility Study

  • Client: Oz Minerals
  • Location: South Australia
  • Date: 2015 - 2016

Project Scope

EMtek continued its partnership with Oz Mineral‘s purpose to ‘go beyond what’s possible to make lives better’. EMtek completed concept level engineering and design to access the cost and schedule of installing an underground conveyor for Oz Minerals at the new underground mine in South Australia. The concept included a two leg conveyor system, 850 vertical meters below the surface and the design allowed for a change in grade between 1:7 and 1:53 pending ground conditions. Requiring a rating of 850tph, the system was designed to be capable of conveying mine production material or waste parallel to the decline development used for interim truck haulage. The design also succesfully incorporated the transfer stations and associated drive modules.

Major Work Inclusions

  • Conceptual engineering and design/layout/drawings (cross section typical and transfers).
  • Nominal design criteria, drive sizes and belt type.
  • Installation procedures, durations and commissioning lead times.
  • Proposed maintenance and operational procedures.
  • Constructability workshop.
