Top Up TLO Feasibility Study Bottom 1

Top Up Train Loadout Study

  • Client: Rio Tinto Ltd
  • Location: Pilbara, Western Australia
  • Date: 2017

Project Scope

EMtek successfully completed a Top-Up System Feasibility Study with Rio Tinto to increase the capacity of the business rail network through implementing a series of initiatives that were aimed at improving the tonnes per car (TPC) performance. Tonnes per car measures the average mass of ore loaded into each wagon at the mine train loadouts (TLO), which is crucial to the efficient operation of the rail network. Maximising TPC allows the tail system to run more efficiently by transporting more ore product per train movement.
