Project Scope

Fosterville Gold Mine needed to mitigate acoustic emissions as their operations were expanding and new facilities and equipment were coming online. This presented the increased risk that the level of noise emitted from the site could exceed agreed levels. The SAG Mill was also identified as one of the main contributors to the sites noise emission profile. The scope included the design, supply, construction and commissioning of a SAG Mill Sound Attenuation Building to reduce the noise emissions on site.

Major Work Inclusions

  • Design, engineering and project management of the SAG Mill Sound Attenuation Building.
  • Procurement of all required components for construction.
  • Construction of the acoustic enclosure.
  • Specific inclusions included the design of the new building, supply and erection of steelwork frame, acoustic building walls, main removable section of roof above drives and trommel for maintenance access, building ventilation, demolition of existing sound enclosure over motors, 3 personnel access doors, acoustic rated maintenance access sliding door, all lighting and emergency lighting and removal and reinstatement of power outlets.
