#  Gap Tonnes Study

  ### Project Scope

When Rio Tinto considered options to increase the current capacity of the HD1 South Plant to meet the future needs of their operation, EMtek prospered at the opportunity to innovate. The current system at the HD1 South Plant was operating below setpoint due to numerous bottleneck constraints. EMtek was engaged to address the current capacity constraints to improve the performance of overland conveyor in combination with improvements to the control system and modification of the transfer chutes. The successful result enabled Rio Tinto to increase throughput to the future planning requirements.

 

### Major Work Inclusions

- Identify constraints in the flow sheet taking into account the range of feed parameters.
- Investigate potential options and conduct concept level engineering for each process element to increase throughput.
- Develop order of magnitude costs for each improvement option.
- Conduct workshops with all key stakeholders to agree on priorities for implementation.
- Develop SOW’s for each focus area.
- Measure actual improvement value by proceeding with agreed scope, budget and schedule.
