When Rio Tinto implemented a multi-site plan to ensure that safety guarding complied with regulatory and statutory requirements, EMtek was proud to provide support by developing the design for an improved guarding arrangement across Rio Tinto's Yandicoogina (Yandi) and West Angelas (WAN) sites. Audit and risk assessments were conducted across the Yandi and WAN sites, which highlighted multiple assets that required guard defect remediation in order to be compliant with the Australian standards and Government regulations.
Due to these findings, Rio Tinto took measures to rectify the safety guards deemed non-compliant. EMtek recently completed a study, which built on the previous risk assessments and proposed concepts for guard defect elimination. The SOW included the engineering, design and detailing required to complete the fixed plant guarding upgrades at the Yandi and WAN sites.
