Project Scope
EMtek completed an engineering study to assess the feasibility of achieving Conveyor belt wear reduction through optimisation of the loading condition by varying belt speed to suit production rates. All conveyors subject to the study are equipped with variable speed drives.
Major Work Inclusions
Assessing the feasibility of varying belt speeds to achieve reduction in conveyor belt wear including:
- Minimal operating belt speeds.
- Optimal belt speeds.
- Theoretical belt wear rates.
- Net theoretical belt wear reduction percentage considering historic production rate distribution.
- Transfer chute suitability.
- Detailed design modifications.
- Risk to plant production.
Additional Work:
- DEM of transfer chutes.
- Determination of theoretical aggregate wear rate (mm/Mt) based on production rate distribution.
- Process review – sensitivity of all conveyor and transfer chutes to surging or fluctuations in plant production rates in consideration of reaction speed to process inputs.
- Define base scope of any electrical and instrumentation work.
